What is stand up paddling?+

A top-of-the-water magic carpet ride. With a stable paddleboard underfoot and a light paddle in hand, you'll be gliding across the water on your very first lesson, regardless of age or athletic ability — where sea turtles play and ocean life thrives.

Do I have to know how to surf?+

No. You'll be exploring the still, smooth, secluded waters of the North Shore for a flat-water experience.

Do I have to know how to swim?+

No. Life jackets are available free of charge, and your instructor is a certified lifeguard.

Am I too young, old, big, or small?+

Must be at least 7 years old and in good health to paddle solo. Ages 4–6 ride with an instructor. Boards handle up to 250 lbs comfortably.

What do I need to bring?+

Swimsuit, smiles, and reef-safe sunscreen (no Oxybenzone or Octinoxate — zinc/titanium dioxide preferred). We have reef-safe sunscreen on hand if you need it.

What about rain, weather, and ocean conditions?+

A light Hawaiian mist makes for great paddling. If it's coming down hard, we'll reschedule. If ocean conditions are deemed dangerous, we'll do our best to reschedule — otherwise, you'll receive a full refund.

Where do I go for my lesson?+

SUP lessons meet near Haleiwa Beach Park, North Shore of Oahu, near Beachhouse Restaurant — look for the rainbow van. Surf lessons vary by conditions, within 10 minutes of the primary location; your instructor calls ahead to confirm.

How long does it take to get there?+

From Waikiki: 45–60 minutes. From Turtle Bay/Kahuku: about 30 minutes. From Haleiwa Town: about 30 seconds. Minutes from Sunset Beach, Pipeline, and Waimea Bay.

What payment do you accept?+

E-check, Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Diners, JCB, PayPal, debit card, or PayPal Pay Later. Call if none of these work for you.

Is gratuity included?+

No — tip your instructor directly at the lesson, or add it during online booking.

Do you do events, parties, youth groups?+

Yes — book us for the whole day for continual lessons for a party or work group.

What is your refund and rescheduling policy?+

See the full Refund Policy page.

What if I am pregnant, have a disability, or another special need?+

We welcome all paddlers. As a low-impact sport, stand up paddling works well for a range of special needs — lessons can be modified to accommodate.
